UMBAL Burgas is renovating the Emergency Department – 2024-11-05 12:22:00

UMBAL Burgas is renovating the Emergency Department – the key unit for multi-disciplinary emergency medical care with a second level of competence, through which 90% of patients enter the hospital.

Since a month, the department has a new management – Dr. Andriana Jovanovska-Kirovakova, specialist in anesthesiology and intensive care. Dr. Jovanovska has been working at UMBAL Burgas for 15 years, in the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care.

Three more young doctors have been appointed to the Emergency Department, and thus the medical team has been filled and now numbers 12 people, including two resuscitators and two specialists in emergency medicine.

A serious training program is planned for the doctors – specialists, as well as for the average medical staff – health care specialists and medical assistants. From November of this year Dr. Jovanovska is an assistant at the University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” and will lead the training of some of the teams.

Students are trained and will continue to be trained in the Emergency Department. A significant part of the efforts of the management will be in the direction of improving the qualification of the staff according to the current European standards on emergency medicine.

“Emergency department is the face of UMBAL Burgas and the only emergency structure in the whole Burgas region that receives such a large flow of patients. My job is to make this face pleasant for both patients and staff. I have the full support of the hospital management and my colleagues for the changes ahead. I have hope that we will be able to preserve what has been done and offer even better quality emergency medical assistance to the residents and guests of Burgas”, commented Dr. Jovanovska.

From here, patients are hospitalized in all other departments and clinics of the hospital, therefore communication with colleagues is of great importance and we are already working to improve it, she added.

Refreshing renovations have begun in the department, which will be implemented in stages so as not to interfere with operations. Part of the furniture and lighting has been replaced. The pediatric office has been renovated.

“I am very pleasantly surprised by the citizens of Burgas who found out about the planned renovation, wanted to get involved with materials, furniture, workers, completely free of charge and without the desire for their names to be mentioned,” says Dr. Jovanovska.
