The tests will be carried out from August 3 through August 7 from 8 am to 2 pm at the Mobile Pediatric Clinic located at 1901 Northwest 24th Avenue. An appointment is required, which can be made by calling 305-243-2059.

The announcement comes a day after Vice President Mike Pence held a round table with researchers at the school to discuss testing the final stage of the experimental COVID-19 vaccine.

Pence said that the government would not rush the process to approve a vaccine. FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn said the timeline for vaccine trials had been shortened and that the agency was conducting a real-time review of the data, but said the FDA “will not make cuts” to evaluate a vaccine.

“We want to make sure that we move at a safe and effective rate. I want to assure the people of Florida and people across the country that we will not take any shortcuts in the development of this or any other vaccine, “Pence told reporters after the roundtable.

In Miami, as part of phase III of the trial, 500 volunteers would receive a real vaccine and another 500 a false one without being told which one. Thousands of other participants are receiving the injections in other parts of the country.
