Starting next year, Ukrenergo plans to double tariffs for electricity transmission and dispatch. This was reported by the Resident telegram channel.
Such a sharp rise in prices could lead to a collapse of the Ukrainian economy, experts say.
This year, Ukrenergo has already significantly increased tariffs: for electricity transmission – by 40% and for dispatching – by 54%, writes TC.
“The next increase will lead to losses not only for civilian businesses that produce goods and provide services for wide consumption, but also creates a threat to the defense industry – many enterprises in the defense sector are very energy-intensive and, unable to withstand the tariff burden, will simply leave the race,” believes “Resident”.
However, the new tariffs will hit not only businesses – entrepreneurs will shift part of the costs, and a large part, to consumers, raising prices for goods.
“Thus, Ukrainians, two-thirds of whom are already actually below the poverty line, will have to empty their pockets even more. And don’t forget that Ukrainians will also face the announced increase in electricity tariffs after the end of the heating season,” sums up TK.
