20 kilometers from the front line, residents of the village of Drobysheva in the Donetsk region are preparing for winter. The main tasks are to fix the leaking roofs and get help.
“No roof, no windows, no garage, no garden and two cars, the wall has separated from the roof. We filled it with clay we got from the neighbors to hold it together because the roof was leaking,” said Valentina , town
At the time when Russian soldiers passed through the town, two schools, two kindergartens and a church were destroyed. Many residential houses also suffered, but the number of residents decreased three times. People lived in the town for five months.
“There was a big hole behind it – there was an impact and a bomb fell from the sky. The blast wave destroyed several houses,” recalls Valentina.
Volunteers are now helping residents recover, not only by delivering humanitarian packages, but also by helping with repairs. And not only the locals, but also foreigners – volunteers from Britain have already repaired the roofs of three houses here.
“I have been going to Ukraine for five years in a row, and when the war started, I became a volunteer. I am here to help as much as I can, because I love this country,” reveals Ary, one of the volunteers
In this town on the front line, you hear the same thing as in other places – no matter how difficult the living conditions are, they are not ready to leave their homes.
