How much money will Ukrainians receive to return home from Finland?
This decision is expected to come into force on January 1, 2024. The amount of the subsidy for voluntary return will be 5.3 thousand euros.
The Finnish Ministry of Internal Affairs clarifies: this program applies to those who were unable to obtain asylum in Finland or changed their mind about applying for it.
“The amount of the subsidy for voluntary return will be 5.3 thousand euros if the application is submitted within 30 days after notification of the first negative decision regarding asylum or withdrawal of the application. If the application is submitted after 30 days, the amount of the grant will be reduced to 2 thousand euros.” , says the news.
It is planned that such an innovation should encourage prompt departure from the country and refuse to appeal the decision to grant asylum.
At the same time, grants for voluntary return can be provided in the form of financial support for travel and reintegration or in the form of in-kind assistance, the Ministry of Internal Affairs says.
Payments from the state for the return of Ukrainians home will not be provided in case of moving to another country of the European Union or the Schengen Agreement, as well as to a country whose citizens do not require a visa to Finland.
