Ukrainian tension is in the air in the occupied territories: will the local men really be mobilized in the Russian army? Will the Russians arrest people again in their workplaces, markets and in lines at shops, or will they limit themselves to only those born between 1994 and 2006? People here rarely think that such a move is a serious violation of the Geneva Convention by the occupying power. The locals clearly know: “Anything can happen here.”
2014. gadā vietējo “brigāžu”, “pulku” un “ogļraču divīziju” kaujiniekiem tika mēnesī maksāti trīs simti dolāru skaidrā naudā. 2015. gada maijā, kad pēc Krievijas armijas reglamentiem un krievu ģenerāļu vadībā izveidoja DNR armijas korpusus, sāka maksāt tos pašus 300 dolārus (270 eiro pēc 2015. gada kursa) pēc aktuālā kursa rubļos. Tā radās ierindas karavīra bāzes likme 15 000 rubļu, kas pastāvēja līdz 2021. gada novembrim. Pēc tam 15 000 rubļu pārvērtās par 172 eiro. To, ka tuvojas karš, Doņecka un Luhanska saprata, kad 2021. gada novembrī vietējiem armijas ierindniekiem pēkšņi sāka maksāt 24 tūkstošus rubļu (275 eiro) mēnesī.
