A 19-year-old Ukrainian teenager with Down syndrome has been visited in Huizen by his idol, American actor and wrestler John Cena. To calm him down, during their flight from Ukraine, his mother told the boy that they were traveling to meet Cena.
The Wall Street Journal wrote an article on May 27 about the flight of 19-year-old Misja Rohozhyn. He and his mother fled the heavily bombarded Mariupol and ended up in Huizen. During the arduous flight, the mother kept promising her son that they would meet Cena.
‘On the way to the United States’
In The Wall Street Journal’s story, Rohozhyn’s mother said the boy had barely left his room since they arrived in Huizen and cried because he still hadn’t met Cena. His mother insisted that their journey was not over, but that they needed to save money to meet him in the United States.
Cena read the article in the newspaper and decided to visit the teenager in the Netherlands to tell him that his story had touched him. According to his mother, Cena’s visit marked the boy’s first smile since the beginning of the war.
Last Saturday, the wrestler met his fan for the first time:
