Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SOF) claim that a missile attack on the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol on September 22 killed 34 officers and injured 105 Russian military personnel.
Among the dead, according to the Ukrainian military, is the commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Admiral Viktor Sokolov. “The headquarters building cannot be restored,” it says in a message from the MTR.
On September 23, the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine said that at least nine Russian military personnel were killed in the attack on the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol. Then the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov, in a conversation with journalists, was unable to confirm reports of Sokolov’s possible death. Intelligence does not know what condition he is in.
Representatives of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces also claim that during the attack on the Ordzhonikidze shipyard in Sevastopol on September 13, the permanent losses of Russian forces amounted to 62 people. This, allegedly, included the military who were on the landing ship Minsk. At the same time, the MTR message does not say anything about the Rostov-on-Don submarine, which was damaged during the same attack.
Representatives of the MTR did not provide any data that could confirm the information they disseminated. There is no independent confirmation of losses during the attack on the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol, as well as during the attack on Minsk.
During a war, it is impossible to quickly verify information disseminated even by official representatives of the conflicting parties.
A missile strike hit the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet on the afternoon of September 22, after which a large fire started in the building. The Sky News television channel reported, citing the Ukrainian Air Force, that the attack was carried out by British Storm Shadow missiles. The Russian Ministry of Defense did not disclose information about losses. After the strike, the department said that one Russian serviceman was killed, but then clarified that this serviceman was considered missing.
