Ukrainian soldiers will be trained in the use of Patriot missiles in the United States

Training Ukrainians on the anti-aircraft missile system is expected to take “several months”.

Ukrainian soldiers will begin training on the Patriot missile system in the United States next week, reports US media CNN.

The training program will take place in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Fort Sill is one of four Army Basic Training Sites and home to the US Army Artillery School which has trained servicemen for over a century. The place is also home to the anti-aircraft school.

Training Ukrainians on the missile system is expected to take “several months,” said Laura Cooper, deputy assistant secretary of defense for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia.

Germany is also helping

The United States announced it was sending the Patriot missile system – its flagship air defense device – to Ukraine in late December when Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky visited Washington and met with his American counterpart Joe Biden.

Germany, under international pressure to step up its military assistance to Ukraine, has also pledged to supply a Patriot air defense battery.
