First, the group’s vocalist Valery Harchishin, with the help of his Facebook page, collected one million hryvnia for military equipment for the Ukrainian Armed Forces unit, which is now served by his brother, in just a few days. This charity initiative was followed by an online concert in Mariupol, which raised another 600 thousand hryvnia.
The musicians are now on a European tour to continue raising funds. The eldest son of the group’s leader, like his brother, is a member of the Ukrainian armed forces defending Ukraine’s freedom.
“Дру́га Ріка́” is a Ukrainian rock band led by Valery Harchishin, formed in 1996 in Zhytomyr. The artists play in the style of pop rock with elements of new wave, britpop and indy rock.
The band has been playing music for 25 years, releasing seven albums. In Riga, the musicians will perform a special concert program, where they will perform their best works.
