Ukrainian refugees warned about NL-Alert test message

NL-Alert will send another six-monthly test message this afternoon at 12:00 noon. Because this is the first message since the start of the war in Ukraine, the organization warns refugees in their own language not to be startled by the piercing sound. People who take care of Ukrainians are asked to pass on the warning.

The government can send an NL-Alert to mobile phones to warn users of, for example, a major fire, severe weather or an attack. The system is tested twice a year, in December and June.

To inform the Ukrainians of the use, an explanation has been prepared in Ukrainian in the Russian, the two main languages of the country. Refugees are also made aware of the alarm message via social media from official authorities.
