Ukrainian Prime Minister and Qatari Prime Minister Stress Continued Importance of “Grain from Ukraine” Initiative

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmigal and Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who also serves as foreign minister, met today in Kyiv and together stressed the need to continue the “Grain from Ukraine” initiative, reported Ukrinform, quoted by BTA .

A statement to this effect was made by Shmigal during a joint press conference with his Qatari counterpart. The Prime Minister of Ukraine stressed that Russia’s withdrawal from the Black Sea grain deal, its crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide against the Ukrainian people require an immediate and decisive response from the world community.

According to him, Russia’s exit from the grain agreement has endangered the lives of millions of people, not only in Ukraine, but also everywhere in the world, especially in Africa, Asia and specifically in the Middle East.

“Together with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, we emphasized the importance of restoring the Black Sea grain agreement against the background of the need to continue the “Grain from Ukraine” initiative,” Shmigal said.

Ukrinform reminds that Russia terminated the Black Sea grain deal on July 17, on the last day of the term of the agreement concluded in July last year with the mediation of the UN and Turkey in connection with the “Grain from Ukraine” initiative.

At the same time, it was announced that Qatar would provide $100 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine to support the country’s health, education and demining operations. This was also announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Shmygal, quoted by Reuters.
