Ukrainian President Zelenskyi’s Large-Scale Change of Top Commanders in the Armed Forces Sparks Concern and Hope

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi has completed a large-scale change of top commanders in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It began with the replacement of the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, General Valery Zaluzhny, with Colonel-General Oleksandr Sirski last Friday, and continued with 14 more changes of commanders in the combined forces, landing forces, territorial defense forces and the general staff.

In Ukraine, these changes are perceived at the same time as concerns that the change of the commander-in-chief and other commanders, popular among soldiers, will not lead to wider dissatisfaction, and also hopes that the changes will give a new impetus to the “stagnant” warfare at the front.
