Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, visiting Denmark, said he was “sure that Russia will lose the war.”
“We will win because the truth is on our side,” Zelensky said in an English speech in front of the Danish parliament building in Copenhagen on the 21st local time.
“It is important to prove victory with our cooperation,” Zelensky said. “Together we show that lives are worthwhile, people are important, freedom and Europe are important.”
He added that Ukraine’s victory would be a “common victory” for European democracy.
President Zelensky’s speech comes a day after Denmark and the Netherlands jointly announced that they would provide Ukraine with their respective US-made F-16 fighter jets as soon as conditions are met, including the end of pilot training.
Starting with six F-16s at the end of this year, the Danish government plans to provide Ukraine with a total of 19 F-16s, including eight next year and five by 2025.
Meanwhile, the Russian side issued a warning message about this.
“Denmark’s decision to donate 19 F-16s to Ukraine escalates the conflict,” Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin warned in a statement to AFP.
