Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky won a major victory. This is related to the commitment of the G7 countries to support Ukraine as long as necessary to defeat Russia.
This was stated on the sidelines of his meeting with the President of the United States (US) Joe Biden in the middle of the NATO Summit in Lithuania. Where Ukraine insists on asking for certainty of joining NATO.

“We will not be shaken,” Biden said in a speech in Vilnius Wednesday, as published AFPThursday (13/7/2023).
“Putin cannot doubt our strength. He is still making a bad bet, faith and unity between the US and our allies and partners will collapse,” he added.
Zelensky himself insisted that promises from Western leaders were “significant security wins” that he could bring home to Kyiv. In his opinion this is a guarantee towards “integration” which will one day lead to full membership of NATO.
The G7 consists of the US, UK, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, France and the European Union (EU). The G7 document was also signed by Spain, the Netherlands, Portugal, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Poland and the Czech Republic.
“We consider Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine to be a threat to international peace and security, a flagrant violation of international law, including the United Nations Charter, and inconsistent with our security interests,” the G7 support document read in detail as published CNBC International.
“We will support Ukraine as it defends itself from Russian aggression, for as long as necessary,” he added.
“Ensuring sustained strength capable of defending Ukraine now and deterring Russian aggression in the future by providing modern military equipment on land, air and sea, training for Ukrainian forces, and sharing intelligence,” the statement added, citing the declaration.
“The G7 said it would also strive to enhance Ukraine’s economic stability, including through recovery efforts, to create conditions conducive to enhancing Ukraine’s economic prosperity,”.
Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron said this international solidarity shows that Ukraine enjoys the world’s long-term support. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin is critical, where he is militarily and politically fragile.
“This is the first sign of division,” he said, referring to Putin’s rule which was recently hit by a brief rebellion by a group of Wagner mercenaries.
Putin is getting sicker
Meanwhile, the weakening of Putin is increasingly being highlighted by a number of analysts. It’s not just the Wagner coup, the drone attacks that reached the Russian capital are also another indicator.
Not to mention the latest news on the whereabouts of the Wagner Group boss, Yevgeny Prigozhin, who is still in Russia despite previously being reported to be exiled to Belarus. This was confirmed by the President of Belarus who is also a close ally of Putin, Alexander Lukashenko.
According to senior journalist Frida Ghitis, at least this was seen when Putin attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. Even though Putin is trying to show the international world that his position is still strong, it is felt that a number of incidents have forced Putin to recalibrate his image.
“Speaking at the summit, Putin tried to substantiate the message conveyed to the Russian people, the claim that all Russian people have supported him,” he was quoted as saying. CNN International.
“However, the reality is very different. Prigozhin claims the Russian military met no resistance when they captured Rostov, a major city bordering Ukraine to the west, took over military headquarters there and then marched almost unopposed to 125 miles from Moscow,” he explained.
Ghittis later added that Putin lost his spurs when the host of the SCO summit, Indian Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi, decided to hold the event virtually instead of bringing the leaders to New Delhi. According to him, conditions like this made it difficult for Russia’s number one to express his position.
“If he can present his case in person, Putin will speak at length with Modi, Xi, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and others,” he said.
“That, rather than collecting cameras for three hours quickly, can help strengthen bonds,” he said.
On the other hand, Putin was called “stabbed by an ally”. This is related to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who allegedly reneged on an agreement with Putin.
Most recently, Türkiye reportedly repatriated the Azov Battalion Commander to Ukraine. The move was seen as a betrayal to Russia as it reneged on a deal brokered by Ankara that promised to keep Azov commanders in Turkey until the end of Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Turkey also agreed to forward Sweden’s offer to join the NATO military alliance to parliament. NATO itself incidentally is Russia’s defense rival and Stockholm’s entry into the alliance was due to Moscow’s attack on Ukraine, which was considered to have threatened the security of Scania.
The negotiations between Erdogan and Putin regarding the Black Sea Grain Initiatives with Ukraine (Black Sea Grain Initiatives) brokered by the UN and Turkey are still stalling. Last Saturday, Erdogan said he had put pressure on Russia to extend the deal, which expires on July 17, for at least three months.
