Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi discusses strained relations with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán at Argentine President Javier Miley’s inauguration

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi spoke with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán at the inauguration ceremony of Argentine President Javier Miley in Buenos Aires on Sunday.

Footage of the conversation was broadcast on the “YouTube” channel of the Argentine Senate.

“During the inauguration, I spoke with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán as openly as possible,” Zelenskiy said later in a video interview.

“And of course about our European affairs,” he added.

Relations between Ukraine and Hungary are strained due to Budapest’s stance on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Orbán has repeatedly stated that Ukraine will not be able to defeat Russia on the battlefield, and has also criticized the West’s position in the conflict settlement case.

Hungary has repeatedly blocked the financial support of the European Union (EU) to Ukraine, and also does not support Ukraine’s accession to the EU.

After his visit to Argentina, Zelensky will go to the United States, where he will meet with the President of the United States, Joe Biden, Zelensky’s office said.
