Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on the 15th (local time) that “the scale of the damage Russia has inflicted is unimaginable, so the scale of international support must be unimaginable in order to achieve safety and change.” He stressed the need to expand support.

President Zelensky held a summit meeting with President Seok-Yeol Yoon, who had visited Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, and made a joint press release, saying, “Unfortunately, many of our lands are still occupied, and we are doing our best to repel Russian aggression.” He said this.

Referring to millions of Ukrainian citizens, including children, living in Russian-occupied territories, Zelensky said, “It is important to ensure that all Ukrainian citizens can return to Ukraine, reunite with their war-torn families, and allow their children to live safely again. It is the most important thing to us.”

Regarding Korea’s aid to Ukraine, he expressed his appreciation, saying, “I am grateful that the Republic of Korea has provided comprehensive support, including security support and humanitarian aid, to safeguard Ukraine’s sovereignty.” In particular, he said that the safety equipment such as mine detectors that Korea had previously provided to Ukraine was “used well,” and that he was “sincerely grateful for being able to save lives through this.”

President Zelensky suggested that Korea participate in the Joint Declaration on Support for Ukraine by the leaders of the G7. He also said, “It is important to hold a global peace summit with the support of the Republic of Korea,” citing the “peace formula” he proposed to the international community earlier.

Along with wartime support, he also emphasized strengthening cooperation in post-war reconstruction projects. President Zelensky said, “Our country’s post-war reform program, including the construction of educational institutions, hospitals, kindergartens, and infrastructure, is expanding. We also need great help in the field of reconstruction and recovery, so we ask you to participate in the construction of the Recovery Center in Ukraine.” .

At the beginning of the joint press release, President Zelensky mentioned the damage caused by heavy rains in Korea and said, “I express my condolences for the flood in Korea. We express our deepest condolences for the deaths of about 20 people.”
