Atlanta, United States (CNN) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held an “unscheduled” meeting with the military ruler and head of the armed forces in Sudan, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.
Zelensky said, on his account on the X platform, on Saturday, that the two leaders met at Shannon Airport in Ireland and discussed “shared security challenges, specifically the activities of illegal armed groups funded by Russia.”
He added: “I am grateful for Sudan’s continued support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. We discussed common security challenges, in particular the activities of illegal armed groups funded by Russia. I invited him to support the Grains from Ukraine initiative and participate in this year’s summit. We examined potential platforms to intensify cooperation between Ukraine and African countries.
Zelensky posted a photo of the meeting on the X platform, where Ukrainian Ambassador to Ireland Gerasko Larisa can also be seen present.
