Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky Expresses Condolences Over the Death of People’s Artist Nina Matvienko

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on Telegram expressed Condolences to the family and friends of People’s Artist of Ukraine Nina Matvienko, who died on October 8.

“Today, a truly People’s Artist of Ukraine left us. In every sense of the word. Nina Mitrofanovna Matvienko. Ovations for her unique singing were heard in halls throughout Ukraine, the USA, Canada, France, Poland, South Korea, Mexico, Latin American countries and many others ” Kvitka-soul “… All this will live forever in our culture, our music, our memory,” he wrote.

Context:

Nina Matvienko was born in 1947 in the village of Nedelishche, Zhitomir region, into a large family.

After graduating from the vocal studio at the Ukrainian folk choir named after Grigory Verevka in 1968 and until 1991, Matvienko was its soloist. In 1975, she graduated in absentia from the Faculty of Philology of Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv.

In 1979, the singer received the title of Honored, and in 1985 – People’s Artist of the Ukrainian SSR. Since 1991, Matvienko has been a soloist of the National Ensemble of Soloists “Kiev Camerata”.

In her marriage to the artist Pyotr Gonchar, Matvienko gave birth to three children: Ivan (1973), Andrey (1974) and Antonina (1981).

Nina Matvienko died two days short of her 76th birthday. The singer’s daughter Tonya Matvienko announced her death. She did not name the cause of her mother’s death. In Instagram Stories Tonya Matvienko reportedthat farewell to Nina Matvienko will take place on October 11 from 11.00 to 13.00 in the premises of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine.
