Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Snake Island in the Black Sea today to mark the 500th day since Russia’s full-scale invasion of his country, DPA reported.

The President paid tribute to the Ukrainian heroes and expressed his gratitude to all those who have been fighting against Russian aggression for the past 500 days. A video of the visit was published by the head of state on social networks, reported a correspondent of the Ukrinform news agency.

“Today we are on Snake Island, our Snake Island, which will never be conquered by the occupier, as well as all of Ukraine. Because we are a country of the brave. Today we paid tribute to our Ukrainian heroes, all the warriors who fought for this island, who they freed him. And even though this is a small piece of land in the middle of our Black Sea, it is a great proof that Ukraine will take back every part of its territory! From here, from this place, I want to thank each and every one of our warriors for these 500 days! To our armed forces, to our intelligence, to the border guards, to the National Guard, to the Security Service of Ukraine, to the National Police, to our signalmen, to our people. Thank you to all who fight for Ukraine.” , the head of state said.

The freedom that all Ukrainian heroes from different times wanted for Ukraine and that must be won right now will be a tribute to all those who gave their lives for Ukraine, Zelensky said and added: “We will surely win.”

The president dedicated a memorial plaque on Snake Island, set to commemorate the liberation of Snake Island by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on June 30, 2022, Ukrinform notes.

On the 500th day of the full-scale invasion, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded the title “Hero of Ukraine” to 49 defenders of the country, 46 of them posthumously, UNIAN agency reported.
