BERLIN – President Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky address the parliament German for the first time, following a series of calls to world leaders. Previously, Zelensky also made a virtual speech before the Congress United States of America (AS).

In a speech to the German parliament, Zelensky said that aid came too late to stop the war with Russia, which invaded the country on February 24.

Zelensky expressed harsh words to the German government over its economic interests with Russia .

“We can see your willingness to continue doing business with Russia and now we are in the middle of a cold war. And again this is something you fail to see,” Zelensky told the Bundestag.

“You’re still protecting yourself behind a wall that doesn’t allow you to see what we’re going through,” he added DWThursday (17/3/2022).

In an emotional speech, Zelensky also appealed directly to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz saying: “Dear Mr Scholz, destroy this wall.”

Using the term “wall”, DW International Editor-in-Chief Richard Walker explained, the Ukrainian president made a direct historical reference to a speech by US President Ronald Reagan standing next to the Berlin Wall in 1987.
