The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky paid tribute to the Americans who fought in the war in his country, Reuters reported.
He stated that these people have dedicated themselves to the cause of upholding the values of freedom.
“We, Ukrainians, will always be grateful to the United States and every American for the extraordinary support,” Zelensky said in English in a video message.which he shot on the occasion of America’s Memorial Day, which marks the appreciation and respect for American servicemen who have died in wars.
“When we remember the fighters who gave their lives in the name of freedom, we remember the reason we are alive, we remember why we live as we like and why our free nation exists,” he added.
Americans were among the thousands of foreigners who joined Ukraine in various combat units. There are no official data on the number of people killed in the conflict, but according to media and other information, it is about 20 US citizens killed.
