“Ukrainian President Finally Speaks with Xi Jinping about Russian-Ukrainian Conflict”

The Ukrainian president announced on Wednesday that he had had a “long and significant” telephone exchange with Xi Jinping, an ally of Moscow, with whom he had wanted to discuss for months.

China presented an initiative at the end of February with a view to ending the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, but this remains vague and theoretical, Beijing insisting on contradictory principles, such as respect for the territorial integrity of States, and therefore for the Ukraine, and the defense of Russia’s diplomatic and security interests.

Xi Jinping has never condemned the offensive launched by Russia in Ukraine in February 2022 and showed his support for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Kremlin spokesman also assured that no telephone conversation was planned soon between MM. Putin and Xi, following his conversation with Mr. Zelensky.
