Gennady Moskal
Ukrainian politician Gennady Moskal died after a serious illness. He was 73 years old.
The people’s deputy announced this on March 17 Nikolai Knyazhitsky. “Gennady Moskal died after a serious illness. Eternal memory. Condolences to the family. He held many government positions, was a true patriot and a talented person,” he wrote on Facebook.
Knyazhitsky noted that during Euromaidan it was Gennady Moskal who warned journalists about planned attacks on the new Maidan channel, and subsequently announced the plans of Viktor Yanukovych’s government to destroy patriotic media.
Gennady Gennadyevich Moskal is a Ukrainian politician and lawyer, police lieutenant general, former head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, candidate of legal sciences (2002), associate professor (2005), deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the VI and VII convocations.
In 2011-2013, he was a member of the political party “Front of Change”, but after it merged with “Batkivshchyna”, he moved to a new party, receiving a seat on the political council of “Batkivshchyna”.

Gennady Moskal was born on December 11, 1950 in the village of Zadubrovka, Chernivtsi region, into a family of employees. Father is Tatar Gennady Gaifulin, mother is Stepania Moskal.
In 1970, he graduated from the Chernivtsi Technical School of Railway Transport and began working as a car observer in the carriage department of the Ternopil branch of the Lviv Railway.
In 1970–1972 he served in the Soviet army. After demobilization, Gennady Moskal studied at the Lvov Special Secondary Police School of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs, and in 1975 he began working in the internal affairs bodies.
He made a lightning-fast career from an inspector to the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the head of the criminal police, police lieutenant general. In 1997-2000, he was appointed head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (Simferopol). He resigned under Minister Yuriy Lutsenko, and at the same time received the post of chairman of the Lugansk Regional State Administration, which he held for about six months.
In 2006-2007 he was the permanent representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. In 2007 he entered the Verkhovna Rada from the Our Ukraine – People’s Self-Defense bloc.
