It is no secret that it is very difficult to live on retirement in Ukraine, which is why some Ukrainians of retirement age continue to work after retirement. This may be one of the reasons for withholding part of the pension. To avoid such a situation, those who receive pension payments from the state and plan to continue working or engage in entrepreneurial activity must inform the Pension Fund about this in a timely manner.
Thus, in accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On Compulsory State Pension Insurance”, after employment, a pensioner is obliged to inform the PFU about this within 10 days.
This can be done by contacting the PFU in person and submitting the appropriate application, or you can do it remotely through your personal account on the PFU electronic services web portal using a qualified electronic signature (CES).
If a pensioner forgot to notify the Pension Fund about employment or starting a business, then Pension Fund employees will still discover this when reconciling data with state registers of compulsory state social insurance, legal entities and individual entrepreneurs. After which you will have to return the amount of overpaid pension funds.
If the pensioner refuses to voluntarily return the overpaid funds, then the Pension Fund decides to withhold from the pension the overpaid amounts within 20% of the pension.
Therefore, if you get a job, be sure to inform the Pension Fund about this, so that later you do not have to give part of your pension back to the state.
