Ukrainian newspaper: – Former president is being prepared for «special assignments»

On Wednesday morning, Ukrainian media reported that the former president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, is supposed to be in the Belarusian capital Minsk.

There are possibly new tasks waiting for Yanukovych, one should believe the Ukrainian newspaper Truthciting Ukrainian intelligence sources.

According to Pravda, the Kremlin will now prepare the former president for what is being described as a “special mission.”

– Reinstatement case

The former president triggered the Ukraine crisis in 2014, when he in the election between the EU and Russia chose to sign an agreement with the latter. It created bloody riots in Kyiv, and he was deposed.

Yanukovych fled east – to Russia.

According to the newspaper, the information from the intelligence sources indicates that the Kremlin is preparing an operation with the goal that he will be reinstated as president of Ukraine.

– Does not matter

Researchers have previously told Dagbladet that Putin’s plan is probably to establish a “sound kingdom” in Ukraine – with a puppet government led by the Kremlin.

– Putin will choose someone who is absolutely loyal to him. He can certainly find that, said chief researcher Tor Bukkvoll at the Norwegian Defense Research Establishment (FFI) to Dagbladet Sunday.

According to the chief researcher, it is conceivable that the person in question has already been appointed. It is also conceivable that a name will be relatively unknown to the public.

Who gets the task, does not really matter, Bukkvoll believes.

“Putin will not appoint anyone to think for himself,” he said.
