In the Black Sea, the demagnetization ship “Balta” suffered a disaster near the Snake Island. This was reported on the Facebook page of the Ukrainian Navy. Two compartments have already been flooded.
According to preliminary data, the ship ran into an unknown object during scheduled crew training.
The Ukrainian Navy has deployed a search and rescue command post. At the same time, the rescue work was complicated by a wave height of 2 meters and a wind speed of 10 m / s.
The operation involved ships and boats in the amount of eight units and four aircraft units.
“Thanks to the coordinated and confident actions of the ship’s crew, the emergency situation was able to stabilize,” the message says.
Currently, there is no threat to the life of personnel and the threat of loss of the vessel. The operation is now underway to return the ship to the permanent deployment point.
