The migrant workers say that they are now determined to receive new passports instead of those that are expiring.
Ukrainians working abroad and whose passports are expiring say they are seeing a rush to obtain new documents. According to them, this is due to the new bill about mobilization. As is known, the parliament is discussing the introduction of significant restrictions for those Ukrainians liable for military service who are abroad. In other words, if the bill is adopted in the form in which it is now, then those liable for military service can apply for a new passport and to perform consular actions only if they have military registration documents.
“I won’t say what my situation is with my military ID, but my foreign passport expires in two years. I don’t know what the situation will be in two years, so right today, December 28, I began to resolve this issue and am trying to get a new one passport, which, as far as we know, is valid for 10 years. Ukrainians who also work with me in Poland predict that this service will become more expensive in certain institutions. Many have found the opportunity to take out housing on credit here, so the issue of a passport is extremely important for them, because “that this is a guarantee of legal employment. In recent days I have seen a video where there is a huge queue of supposedly Ukrainians at some institution that accepts documents for international passports, this is alarming,” he commented TSN.ua Ukrainian Alexey, who has been living and working in Poland for several years.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Poland commented on the situation for TSN.ua Vasyl Zvarych.
“We have everything in an electronic queue, we don’t stand in a live queue. Therefore, we don’t see a rush at consular offices,” said Vasily Zvarych. “But in many cities of Poland there are units of the State Enterprise “Document”, which also accept documents for issuing foreign passports. This is a State Enterprise operates separately from us and is subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the migration service. What is the situation there, it is better to ask the migration service. Concerning registration of persons liable for military service — We have consular registration; accordingly, our consular offices are obliged to inform the relevant TCC about each person of military age who is registered with the consulate. So this is now happening in accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine”.
