Ukrainian intelligence reacted to the arrest of a “spy” in Crimea

The secret service said that this “propaganda action” was planned by the FSB as a background for the “celebration” of the anniversary of the occupation of Crimea.

The Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine said that the statements of the Russian FSB about the arrest of a “Ukrainian spy” in Crimea is a “propaganda action”. This was announced on Tuesday, March 16, by the press center of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine in Facebook.

The intelligence service noted that in this way the FSB creates the background necessary for the Kremlin to “celebrate” the anniversary of the occupation of Crimea and helps to divert attention from the internal problems of the peninsula.

“At the current stage, Russia is purposefully aggravating the situation, trying to shift responsibility for the settlement process in eastern Ukraine to the Ukrainian side and discredit the initiative of the Crimean Platform for the Peaceful Reintegration of Crimea,” the message says.

The intelligence also stated that the information of the Russian security officials that they allegedly exposed a Ukrainian spy in Crimea is intended to create a background for the Kremlin to hold an informal meeting of the UN Security Council on Crimean issues initiated by Russia on March 17.

It was reported today that in Crimea, Russian security forces detained a citizen of the Russian Federation on suspicion of intelligence and subversive work in favor of Ukraine.
