Moscow –
Military Ukraine counter attack Russia to the fuel depot and food. Now, Ukrainian helicopters are pounding Russia’s fuel depot, triggering a huge fire.
Russia’s Emergencies Ministry said around 170 firefighters had been dispatched to extinguish the blaze. The attack reportedly took place in the Russian city of Belgorod, the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said on the Telegram messaging app.
As reported AFPFriday (1/4/2022), the attack on the city of Belgorod marked the first time Ukraine launched air strikes on Russia since the invasion began.
“There was a fire at the fuel depot due to an air strike carried out by two Ukrainian military helicopters, which entered Russian territory at low altitude,” the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, wrote on the Telegram messaging app.
He said as many as 2 employees at the BBM facility were injured. Russia’s Emergencies Ministry said hundreds of firefighters were struggling to extinguish the huge blaze, which started around 6 a.m. local time.
A video released by the ministry showed a huge fire blazing, with black and white smoke billowing over the site. Russian energy giant Rosneft, which owns the facility, said it had evacuated staff from the site.
