The Ukrainian government condemned the “targeted destruction” of Ukrainian grain carried out by protesters along the Polish border, AFP and BTA reported.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine strongly condemned the incident and called on Warsaw to investigate the event and impose penalties on those responsible.
In addition, the Ukrainian Ministry of Agriculture invited Polish protesters to go to Ukraine and see the working conditions of Ukrainian farmers amid the war, Ukrinform reported, citing a statement published on Facebook by the ministry’s press service.
“During the two years of the full-scale invasion, Ukrainian farmers worked under constant enemy fire and suffered huge losses. They harvested the grain with great effort and sometimes at the cost of their lives. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food invites Polish farmers to visit Ukraine, to to see the conditions under which Ukrainian farmers are currently working. 4 million small farm owners in Ukraine are ready to share their experience with their Polish colleagues,” the statement said.
The destruction of grain has nothing to do with a peaceful protest, neither from a legal nor from a moral point of view, the ministry emphasizes. At the same time, it thanked the Poles who have helped and continue to help the Ukrainian people.
The Polish police have not yet detained anyone in connection with the incident, an investigation is underway, Ukrinform reported.
