Ukrainian Foreign Minister: “The era of peace in Europe is over – We are ready for anything” – 2024-04-26 08:02:06

After praising US politicians for approving a $61 billion military aid package for Ukraine, the country’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba warned that new military supplies would not immediately reverse the current situation on the Donbas battlefield.

As he pointed out, “It was my belief that we would have a positive result, but the West must realize that the era of peace in Europe is over and it is more necessary than ever to build up its defense industry.”

In addition, Kuleba noted, speaking to the Guardian, that he is optimistic that the White House will push forward the new weapons package “within days, maybe even hours” and that it is “just a matter of logistics to get the supplies to the front line in Donetsk.”

Pentagon officials said some munitions have already been stored in Europe, with Joe Biden saying Wednesday, April 24, that they would arrive in a matter of hours.

What will happen to the European Patriots?

Kuleba also said that Ukraine has identified seven Patriot air defense systems that it could use to protect civilians in major cities outside Kyiv. One had been acquired by Germany, he said, four more had been identified and were being negotiated, and two more were in his sights.

It is recalled that reports indicated that the Greek government, as well as the Spanish, Dutch and Swedish governments, are under pressure to provide their respective air defense systems. Kuleba added that an eighth system could come from the US. “I think the US military probably has an extra one,” he said.

Since Kiev began pushing for more Patriots in recent weeks, Germany has been the only EU country to pledge an additional array.

“We are ready for anything” – What he said about Trump and Putin

“I don’t know what will happen tomorrow or how the polar balances will develop in the USA, but what we learned from the first era of Donald Trump in the presidency is that there is always a way to get out of a crisis,” Kuleba pointed out.

“We have seen so much since 2014, (since the annexation of Crimea) that without any exaggeration, we are ready for anything. We recognize that personal relations with Trump’s team were minimal, but we note that Zelensky invited Trump to visit Kiev,” the Ukrainian foreign minister added.

Kuleba also spoke about Russian President Vladimir Putin, arguing that he “will enter into substantive discussions only when the time comes when his military forces are about to collapse. To get to this point, Ukraine needs two things: success on the battlefield and a coalition of countries that will support Zelensky’s model of peace with the withdrawal of Russian forces.

“Every time I go to a soldier’s funeral I double and triple my effort to bring the war to an end, with a victory for Ukraine. I believe that at the end of this war, only one side will survive and that will be Ukraine. But when I talk about survival, I don’t mean that Russia will cease to exist as a country,” Kuleba said.
