After the start of the war, time was divided into before and after. All this seriously affected football. Not just professional. Hundreds of young Ukrainian football players ended up in Europe.

Now the name of 18-year-old Daniil Krevsun from the Borussia youth team (Dortmund) is well known. The Ukrainian midfielder plays successfully in Germany. Played in 5 out of 6 matches of the UEFA Youth League (his team reached the 1/16 finals in a very difficult group with Milan, Newcastle and PSG) and in the U-19 Bundesliga (West Division) has 6 goals and 2 assists in 12 matches.
Krevsun’s last club in Ukraine was Shakhtar. Then the war began. Many families ended up in Europe. Today Daniil is the biggest loss for Shakhtar among the young players who left. Already next summer he could apply for the place of Georgy Sudakov. Other people from Shakhtar cannot yet boast of such success in Europe. Perhaps Artem Stepanov from Bayer, who is two years younger and currently plays only at the U-17 level.
Dynamo also has its losses. The name of Alexander Dragan was well known. He immediately ended up at Atalanta. Now he plays consistently at the level of seventeen-year-olds. I think that next season it will be in primavera. Goalkeeper Alexander Petrenko is successful at Bayer. At just 16 years old, he is already playing consistently for the U-19 team. If I’m not mistaken, I played for the first team. They immediately got into the Ukrainian national team in 2007.
Now Dmitry Bogdanov’s star is rising. A graduate of the Dynamo Academy ended up in Germany after the start of the war in the Dynamo club (Dresden). This season, in seven matches for U-17, he scored 5 goals and made 3 assists. At U-19 level, 6 goals in 7 matches. And this is at the age of 16.
Now Bild has written that Bogdanov will work with the first team of Dynamo Dresden at a training camp in Turkey. The club is counting on the Ukrainian legionnaire and signed a long-term contract with him. Dmitry has already managed to play for the first team of the Saxons in a friendly match against the Czech team Bohemians Prague. The Ukrainian striker scored a double in the match against the Czechs. He is publicly praised by legendary German forward Ulf Kirsten.
Dynamo (Dresden) is not a high-status club like Borussia or Bayer. The team plays only at the third-ranking Bundesliga level in Germany. But there are advantages to this, because it is easier for a young player to get into senior football. The competition is not that high. Plus, the club itself will be most interested in the development and further transfer of the player, because this is an asset of the club.
I saw him play in a match for the national team. In November, Vladimir Yezersky’s team played in the first qualifying round for Euro U-19. Bogdanov made the Ukrainian national team for the first time in his year, but left a very good impression. Physically fit, fast, persistent, shows himself very well in martial arts, ability to beat an opponent. Moreover, he did not play in his position in attack, but on the flank. The coaches were very pleased with his work and dedication in three qualifying matches.
If things go on like this, then in 2-3 years Ukraine will receive a player of national team level from a high-status Bundesliga club. The guy’s progress and development is enormous. He has all the qualities to be successful in football. The main thing is to think about football, not about money. Do not repeat the mistakes that Erik Shuranov once made, who could not decide what he wanted from football. Now he plays only in the Israeli championship. Although he could potentially be (if not for a serious injury) now the main forward of the Ukrainian youth team. The desire to earn more and change teams does not always lead to success. Everything must be done step by step.
Dynamo fans don’t need to feel sorry. That’s life. The war changed a lot. You just need to wish the guy good luck in his further development and keep your fingers crossed for him. I hope that Dmitry Bogdanov will delight fans at the level of youth, youth and national teams of Ukraine.
