Ukrainian director Alan Badoev would agree to collaborate with Ukrainian rapper Potap (Alexey Potapenko), despite the high-profile scandals with his participation. Badoev stated this in an interview on November 15 published on the YouTube channel of a Ukrainian blogger specializing in gossip about Ukrainian show business, Bogdan Bespalov.
“Potap calls you and says: “I want to shoot a very cool video, I’m ready to pay any money.” But there is already a background of scandals, public showdowns. Will you take such reputational risks?” – Bespalov asked Badoev.
“I have never been afraid of scandals. I most often manage them. In the sense that I cannot be frightened by scandals. If this is a person whom I support, then most likely I will take risks, but, of course, I will help in how to get out out of the crisis. And in order to get out of the crisis, you need to feel that you are doing wrong and why that is,” said Badoev.
According to Badoev, “everyone knows that Potap can be very cool.” He remembered how Potap stood up for the Ukrainian singer Max Barskikh, when, after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, he was insulted by the Russian Putinist singer Timati.
“When Timati attacked Max, who was the first to say the word? Potap. And he did it sincerely. Very masculine. Therefore, since I am also a man, if Potap had approached me, I would have met him, we would have talked about this. Maybe I would have told him that something was wrong if he had asked. That is, he once stood up for us, and I will always extend my hand to him in response,” Badoev summed up.
Context:
Potap left Ukraine five days before the full-scale invasion of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation and, together with his wife, Ukrainian singer Nastya Kamenskikh, went to Madrid (Spain). He hid his departure. After this became known, the artist was criticized by colleagues and netizens.
Recently, Potap has repeatedly found himself at the epicenter of a series of scandals. So, on October 18, 2023, the media reported that he left Ukraine for Spain with his wife. Kamenskikh did not comment on this information. After the publicity, Potap announced that he intended to return home soon.
In early November, Ukrainian media published a video in which he was captured while on vacation in Dubai in the company of Russians. Potap confirmed that he was in Dubai, but did not comment on his vacation with the Russians. He also did not specify how exactly he went abroad during martial law.
