Ukrainian dies after police arrest in Poland

In the Polish town of Skierniewice, the police detained a 38-year-old Ukrainian citizen who allegedly behaved aggressively. Almost immediately after that, he lost consciousness, doctors tried to revive him for about an hour, but to no avail, writes the Polish edition virtual Poland with reference to the Lodz Police Department.

The incident took place in Skierniewice at a bus stop. The publication writes that an aggressive Ukrainian threatened people with a stick, and then hit the woman with it. The police were called to the scene of the incident.

The police say that the man was neutralized by passers-by, and their officers only handcuffed him. A police spokesman claims that no force was used against the Ukrainian.

According to Polish law enforcement officers, literally ten seconds after the arrest, the man began to suffocate, and then lost consciousness. The paramedics tried to reanimate him, but to no avail – about an hour later the Ukrainian died.

An autopsy will reveal whether the man was under the influence of any prohibited substances, police said.
