People’s deputies supported the postponement of a number of holidays. In particular, Christmas, the Day of Ukrainian Statehood and the Day of Defenders and Defenders.
The corresponding bill was adopted as a whole on 14 July. The goal is the rejection of the Russian heritage.

What dates have the celebration been moved to?
According to the bill, the date of the celebration of Christmas was moved to December 25. Day of Ukrainian Statehood – from July 28 to 15, when the memory of the greatest state-creator, the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince of Kyiv, Vladimir the Great, is honored.
In addition, the Day of Defenders and Defenders of Ukraine will not be October 14, but October 1.
This law will be signed after July 28, so this month the Day of Ukrainian Statehood will be July 28,

A total of 241 people’s deputies voted in favor. “Against” were only 2, and another 65 – did not vote.

It should be noted that on June 28, Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted a bill to the Verkhovna Rada to change the dates of 3 holidays. The Ukrainian leader defined it as urgent.
The explanatory note said that the majority of Orthodox Christians in the world celebrate Christmas on December 25th. By the way, the OCU approved the transition to a new calendar.
The purpose of the bill is to abandon the Russian legacy of imposing Christmas on January 7 and to set the date for the celebration of Christmas on December 25,

The date of the Day of Defenders and Defenders of Ukraine was proposed to be postponed, since the holiday is associated with Ukrainian military traditions of honoring the Day of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos. Previously, the church asked for a transfer.
