Ukrainian Defense Forces Engage in Battle with Russian Troops: December 2023 Update

According to analysts, geolocated footage from November 30, December 1 and December 3 confirmed that the Defense Forces were engaged in battle with Russian soldiers in the village of Belogrudovo.

On December 4, the Defense Forces continued operations on the left bank of the Kherson region, where they recently took a confirmed position on Belogrudy Island southwest of Kherson. About it writes “Institute for the Study of War” in the report dated December 4.

Geolocated footage, which was published on November 30, December 1 and 3, confirmed that Ukrainian troops engaged in battle with military personnel from the occupation group of troops in the village of Belogrudovo (11 km southwest of Kherson).

“This indicates that Russian troops likely control most of Belogrudy Island, and that Ukrainian troops have recently taken up positions near Belogrudovo,” analysts admit.

One of the Russian “military officers” also noted that as of December 4, Ukrainian forces were occupying positions in the village of Belogrudovo.

Another Russian source confirmed that the Ukrainian defenders, albeit temporarily, had advanced south of Krynki (30 km from Kherson and 2 km from the bank of the Dnieper). But at the same time, Russian artillery forced the Ukrainian troops to retreat from their new position.

Other “military correspondents” noted the ongoing fighting near Krynki, but recently a parity of forces has been established here, and it cannot be said that any of the parties to the conflict is acting more successfully.

Analysts refer to the pro-Russian Telegram channel “Two Majors”, whose author notes bad actions against Ukrainian forces in Krynki.

It is alleged that airborne units and units of the 70th motorized rifle division are experiencing difficulties in interacting with neighboring units and cannot sort out their problems.

“Because of this, many are being removed from the front lines,” the publication says.

According to him, artillery is working in this area on both sides, and the Ukrainians are doing it much better: due to their range and the fact that the Russian Armed Forces cannot conduct counter-battery combat.

Russian artillerymen have to quickly change positions under the constant surveillance of Ukrainian UAVs.

The Russian “military correspondent” also notes that the Armed Forces of Ukraine, apparently, are not experiencing a “shell hunger” – and soldiers need to mentally prepare for the fact that a cluster munition will land on their heads.

It is reported that there is a significant accumulation of Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance, and that “kamikaze drones create a huge radius of destruction of equipment.”

Ukrainian military observer Konstantin Mashovets noted that Russian Dnepr troops in the Kherson region are taking advantage of bad weather to regroup and are concentrating their main forces against the Ukrainian bridgehead in Krynki.

Let us remember that the day before, a BBC publication claimed that a Ukrainian soldier spoke about “hell” on the left bank of the Dnieper. Despite enormous difficulties, the UAF marines were able to dig in on the left bank. Partly due to artillery support from the heights of the right bank.

It was also reported that on December 4, the Russian Armed Forces advanced on the flank of Bakhmut and declared control over part of Sinkovka, Kharkov region, although analysts did not find visual evidence of the advance near Kupyansk.
