Ukrainian Citizen Arrested for Treason in Moscow Court

The Lefortovo District Court of Moscow arrested Leniya Umerova, a citizen of Ukraine, in a case of treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code). About it reported in the case card on the website of the Moscow courts.

The girl’s brother Aziz Umerov the day before toldthat the FSB officers took her away from the temporary detention center of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Vladikavkaz in an unknown direction. According to him, the parents tried to visit the isolation ward, but they were not missed, saying that Lenya was no longer there – “the FSB officers took her along with her things.”

“No one doubted that the FSB would come after her, because all these five months they had falsified the criminal case against Lenia, but they could not bring a single official charge,” he said.

Umerova, 25, was detained back in early December 2022 in North Ossetia when she crossed the border at the Upper Lars checkpoint. She went to the Crimea to her father, who is suffering from cancer. Later, she was placed in the Center for the temporary detention of foreign citizens near Vladikavkaz.

On March 13, Umerova left the center. However, as told Krym. Realiyam her brother, immediately after that, a car with men in civilian clothes drove up to the girl, they put a bag on her head, took her in an unknown direction and threw her out on the street. Then, due to the lack of documents, she was detained by the police.

A Russian court placed Umerova under administrative arrest several times under the article on disobedience to the police, including for not giving up the phone from which she called her parents, and also for refusing to get out of the escort car. The last arrest was to end on May 11th.
