The Ukrainian Greek Catholic parish of St. Andrew of the Basilian Fathers in Lviv demands that the video for the song “Heart” with the participation of Ukrainian artists Sergei Zhadan and Kristina Solovy, which was published on the YouTube channel of the Ukrainian group “Zhadan and Dogs” on October 20, be removed from the Internet. Statement by church representatives published on the same day on the institution’s Facebook page.
“We would like to speak out about the appearance of the “Heart” video online with the participation of Kristina Solova and Sergei Zhadan. We have already asked them to remove this video because it promotes anti-Christian values and violates the essence and script of the video, about which we were informed in advance “, the statement says.
Neither Zhadan nor Solovy have yet commented on the appeal of church representatives.
Context:
Zhadan and Solovy called their new joint video “a manifesto of love for the world, growing out of honesty and understanding of its shortcomings.”
“This is a frank and understandable love story between two people, behind which lies devotion and courage,” says the description of the video.
Part of the video was filmed on the premises of the Church of St. Andrew the First-Called UGCC, and part of it was filmed on the streets of Lvov. In addition, the clip shows kissing and hugging of same-sex couples. This footage was filmed outside the church.
