TRIBUNPONTIANAK.CO.ID – This Steam Deck handheld game console made by Valve serves unexpected things in the hands of the Ukrainian army.
Apparently they actually use the Steam Deck as a means of war.
Because the Steam Deck is known to have various functions besides playing games, it can also run word or image processing software.
In a photo and video shared by the media of the Ukrainian Territorial Defense Forces (TDF), TRO Media on Facebook and Instagram.
Soldiers can be seen experimenting by operating the Steam Deck to remotely control the gun turret.

Like playing a game, the gun turret will rotate left and right if soldiers touch the analog button on the right side of the Steam Deck.
The gun turret will also fire shells, although the video doesn’t show what button to press to do so.
According to the description posted by TRO Media on Instagram, this armament set-up is a combination of a gun turret named “Shablya”, control panel, camera and monitor.
The Shablya is a turret with a thermal imaging feature and an electronic rangefinder.
The turret can accommodate a variety of weapons, such as machine guns and grenade launchers.
These turrets are installed at checkpoints and other borders for a number of purposes, such as shooting down low-flying enemy drones.
The post doesn’t mention Steam Deck at all, although the photos and videos circulating clearly show the use of the portable console as a gun turret control device.
In fact, the console appears to have a modified UI to control the gun turret, complete with buttons.
Soldiers also seem to be able to see the gun turret’s point of view, a la Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege game.
