“On February 20, five Buk-M1 surface-to-air missile systems of the 223rd anti-aircraft missile regiment capable of striking aircraft at an altitude of up to 22 kilometers within a range of more than 30 kilometers were observed arriving and leaving on combat alert in the region. the Mangush, Novoaleksandrovka, Toretsk, Kramatorsk and Kamyshnoye communities of the Stanitsa Luganskaya district,” he said.
“However, the DPR people’s militia does not have an airplane at this altitude,” he added, as quoted by Russian news agencies, TASSTuesday (22/2/2022).
The situation on the battle lines in Donbass escalated on the morning of 17 February. The Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR) reported the most massive bombing by the Ukrainian military in recent months, damaging civilian infrastructure facilities.

On February 18, LPR and DPR Speakers Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin announced the evacuation of civilians from republican territory to Russia at the threat of escalating hostilities. On February 19, the Donbass republic announced a general mobilization.
On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the recognition of sovereignty over the People’s Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. Russia signed an agreement on friendship, cooperation, and reciprocal assistance with their leaders.
