The Ukrainian army says the drone attack on an oil depot on the Crimean peninsula at the weekend was part of preparations for the expected offensive in the spring.
– Destruction of the enemy’s logistics is one of the elements of the preparations for the powerful actions of our defense forces that we have planned for a long time, a spokeswoman for the Southern Command of the Ukrainian army said on Sunday.
– And this work is preparation for the big offensive that everyone is waiting for, said spokeswoman Natalija Gumenjuk.
As a result of the drone attack on Saturday morning, a fire broke out in a large oil warehouse in the city of Sevastopol, and ten tanks with 40,000 tonnes of oil burned up, according to a Ukrainian source.
Authorities in Kyiv have not yet publicly said they were behind the attack, but military intelligence has said there will be more such explosions. The world has been waiting for weeks for the announced offensive to take back occupied territories to start.
