“Based on the operational situation that developed around Avdeevka, in order to avoid encirclement and preserve the lives and health of servicemen, I made a decision to withdraw our units from the city and move to the defense of more advantageous borders,” Sirsky said in a statement on Facebook.
On Friday afternoon, a video went viral on military Telegram channels showing how Russians raise flags in the center of Avdeevka. Lately, there has been fierce fighting within the city, with Ukrainian troops withdrawing from destroyed positions and trying to entrench themselves in new ones.
As reported by the commander of the Taurian military group Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, the Ukrainian reserves are thrown into battle, and the evacuation of the wounded is complicated by the continuous shelling.
