The activation of Ukrainian troops on the left bank of the Kherson region may indicate that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are preparing to cross the Dnieper, says military expert Alexander Musienko.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces may be preparing for a large-scale operation in the Kherson region, which is very risky, but if successful, this risk will be completely justified. We are talking about crossing the Dnieper, which involves establishing crossings across the river and sending a certain number of troops with heavy equipment and weapons, which will make a breakthrough, covered by air defense systems. It is quite possible that these assets will have to be removed from combat duty in some cities.
About it told Head of the Center for Military Legal Research Alexander Musienko in an interview with Evgenia Kutnova for the YouTube channel “News Factory”.
Carrying out such an operation in complete secrecy is quite difficult, given the modern intelligence systems that our enemy also uses. In addition, there are collaborators with whom the SBU is constantly fighting, and they can transmit important information to the enemy. But still, according to the military expert, this is precisely the kind of action that Russians do not expect from Ukrainian troops now.
If this operation is successful, it will give Ukraine the opportunity to solve many problems, Musienko said. Firstly, it will ease the pressure of the Russians in the Eastern direction, which will immediately make the work of our defenders on this section of the front easier. Secondly, it will demoralize the enemy to some extent, since he is unlikely to count on such a step from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Thirdly, it will provide an opportunity to enter the rear of Russian troops from the flank. Fourthly, it will jeopardize the logistics routes of the Russians.
“But this will only happen in the event of a major operation that is successful, – explained the military analyst. – We do not know how the Ukrainian troops will act; only our command knows this plan. If the task is to follow exactly this path, then it is, of course, risky, but if successful, it is very justified.”
