Ukrainian aid will be available only for farmers who declared a loss for 2023 (supplemented) – 2024-08-02 08:27:36

Ukrainian aid will be paid, but only for the farmerswho have declared a loss from their activities for 2023. This was reported in response to a question by Viktoria Vasileva, an MP from the splintered “Velichie”, to the acting finance minister Lyudmila Petkova today forenoon. She added that some farmers will receive the aid directly, without conditions, while others, according to the agreement, must be at a loss to be helped.

(Lyudmila Petkova is most likely referring to the producers of wheat, barley, sunflower, corn and rape – b.r.)

Petkova clarified that an investigation is underway and it will become clear how many farmers are subject to support under this state aid and what amount should be set aside for payment.

The acting finance minister said that this year funds under “Aid to support the liquidity of farmers to overcome the negative economic impact of Russian aggression against Ukraine” and “Aid to support the liquidity of farmers, producers of grain and oil crops, for overcoming the negative economic impact of Russian aggression against Ukraine” were not foreseen.

The first tranche in the amount of BGN 330 million was paid mainly with funds from the DF “Agriculture” through restructuring.

It may not be necessary to update the national budget to pay the Ukrainian aid if it turns out that few farmers were at a loss last year. In such a case, the Ministry of Finance will find funds to pay the second tranche by September 30, without having to update the budget, Ludmila Petkova also stated.
