The match was not at all like the one that the rivals had at the stage of the group stage. Then, we recall, the main players got the opportunity to rest – the team has already completed the task of reaching the quarterfinals. This time everything was much more serious, and, alas, the Ukrainian team had few arguments.
Although it was the Blue-Yellows who opened the account. In the 13th minute, Mudryk beat the opponent on the left flank and rolled perfectly under Bondarenko’s blow. But the joy was short-lived – it took the Spaniards a little more than ten minutes to not only level the score, but also come out ahead. In both cases, the Ukrainians did not play well enough in defense, which led to such a result.
The key was the third goal, the author of which at the beginning of the second half was Blanco. After that, our team seemed to be emotionally “turned off” – it was clear that the Ukrainians could not turn the tide of the game. In the end, everything ended even worse – a rout.
However, the youth team of Ukraine deserves good words for this tournament. Having excellently spent the entire tournament, Ruslan Rotan’s wards won a ticket to the 2024 Olympics and lost only in the fifth match of Euro 2023.
