Ukraine has a plan for defeat militarily Russia, which is “primarily dependent” on American support, the Ukrainian president said, Volodymyr Zelensky.
“The plan for victory depends primarily on the support of the United States and other partner countries,” Zelensky said at a press conference.
Zelensky had already mentioned the preparation of such a plan at the end of August, without giving further details. At that time, he said that the Ukrainian incursion into the Russian Kursk region was part of the project.
The Ukrainian president’s statements come two months before the US presidential electionwhich could represent a challenge for Zelensky, should the Republican Donald Trump win the election against the Democrat Kamala Harris.
Republicans are deeply divided on Ukraine and Trump’s return to the White House could radically change the foreign policy of Washington.
Trump aides have suggested that if he wins, he will use aid to Kiev to force Ukraine to do territorial concessions to Russia and end the war that began when it invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
