Ukraine’s Sea Corridor in the Black Sea: 13 Million Tons of Goods Exported

Ukraine announced on Saturday that it has exported about 13 million tons of goods since the establishment of a sea corridor in the Black Sea last August, which has become very important for its trade.
Oleksandr Kubrakov, Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure, said that 400 ships transported these shipments, amounting to about “13 million tons.”
He expressed his “gratitude” to the Ukrainian army and international partners for ensuring the activity of this corridor “under the conditions” of the current crisis.
This corridor was established in August to connect the ports of southern Ukraine and the Bosphorus Strait, weeks after Russia withdrew from the grain deal brokered by the United Nations and Turkey.
This agreement allowed the export of 33 million tons of Ukrainian grain and other food products through the Black Sea in one year.
A mine exploded on a Panamanian-flagged commercial ship heading to a Ukrainian port to load grain this week, wounding two sailors.
For his part, President Volodymyr Zelensky, on Saturday, praised his country’s maritime successes, saying that his forces “extended control over the sea” this year.
