Ukraine’s Recapture of Robotyne Advances Towards Crimea: Ukrainian Foreign Minister

The recapture of Robotyne makes a Ukrainian advance towards Crimea easier. This is according to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. According to him, the way is being cleared to advance to important cities such as Tokmak and Melitopol.

The Ukrainians retook the village of Robotyne from the Russians on Monday. That is seen as a major success for Ukrainian forces, which launched a counter-offensive against the Russian invasion force in June.

Ukraine is having great difficulty breaking through Russian lines, despite having access to modern Western weapons and equipment.

That would have been successful in the southern part of the front at Robotyne. Soldiers first defused Russian mines, especially at night. Then troops opened the attack on bunkers and trenches.

Robotyne is located about 115 kilometers from the Sea of Azov. If the Ukrainians reach that sea, they could split the Russian occupation force in the south in two. Time is running out, as colder and wetter autumn weather could further complicate the offensive.
