The total public debt of Ukraine in April 2023 increased by 3.6% and reached a new historical high.
This is evidenced by the data of the Ministry of Finance. Interfax-Ukraine.
In dollar terms, the total public debt increased by $4.37 billion, to $124.28 billion, and in hryvnia terms, by UAH 159.9 billion, to UAH 4.54 trillion.
Direct public debt increased by 4% over the previous month, to $115.08 billion, or UAH 4.21 trillion, and amounted to 92.6% of the total public and publicly guaranteed debt.
It is reported that external direct debt in April increased by $4.68 billion to $75.79 billion, while domestic direct debt decreased by UAH 8 billion to UAH 1.44 trillion (equivalent to $39.29 billion).
The total external public debt of Ukraine in April 2023 increased by 5.9%, or $4.61 billion, to $83.11 billion, while the total domestic debt decreased by 0.6%, or UAH 8.6 billion , up to UAH 1.51 trillion.
As a result, the share of total external public debt increased from 65.5% to 66.9% in April.
Since the beginning of 2023, the total public debt of Ukraine has grown by 11.6%: in dollar terms – by $12.89 billion, in hryvnia – by UAH 471.4 billion.
Ukraine’s government and government-guaranteed debt increased by $13.4 billion in 2022, to 78.5% of GDP from 48.9% at the end of 2021.
